Josep Rodríguez Ferrer, born in Barcelona in 1982, holds degrees in Catalan language and literature and Romance languages and literatures from the University of Barcelona and works as a secondary-school Catalan teacher. He describes himself as a ‘creator of worlds no one has ever visited’ – a vision he brings to life in Espelmavers , the first boys’ love and romantasy trilogy in Catalan literature: Mentre durin les espelmes [While the Candles Last], Mentre el cel no ens reclami [While the Sky Hasn’t Claimed Us] and the recent Mentre les ales m’ho permetin [While My Wings Still Let Me].  Rodríguez has also won several short story and haiku prizes and has published a number of poetry collections.
