An innovative theatre company and a group engaged in exploring experimental sounds invite us to a conference that is absolutely vital as well as completely irrelevant. Come and meet the Afasians.
It is some years now since loscorderos·sc and Za! worked together for the first time at the Indisciplines Festival in 2012, organised by Mercat de les Flors and the Institut Ramon Llull. On that occasion, they created a piece that revolved around a sofa, entitled Es perimental. Since then, loscorderos·sc have become firmly established as an innovative company, whilst Za! found recognition for their work with a City of Barcelona prize for their latest album, Loloismo. Now, the two groups team up once more to create a stage experience in the form of a conference given by a group of Afasians, members of a tribe that has made such important discoveries as the destruction of the self, and have even managed to open the famous box containing Schrödinger’s cat, which, according to quantum physics, is at once both dead and alive. A table and four microphones are all they need, as well as a sofa to take a rest during breaks in the conference. The truth is, though, that this is not a conference, that the Afasians are not a tribe, nor have they made any discoveries. Nevertheless... Afasians is the latest offering from two groups who are not sure where the avant-garde actually is... perhaps because they have left it way behind them.
