Moaré

The choreography that won the Institut de Teatre's 2016 Dance Prize brings to the stage four male and female dancers and three musicians who will present us with a reality as diverse as the way we look at it.

The gaze, both the way we see the world and the way others see us, is the focus of a contemporary dance show with live music that explores reality through the different points of view of those who interpret it. The title, Moaré, refers to an optical phenomenon that causes our brain, when perceiving two superimposed patterns, to capture a new, non-existent pattern that may even form drawings. This idea is the inspiration for a show that focuses on the gaze as subjective and, therefore, creative interpretation and perception. Questions such as the construction of your own identity based on the way others see you are, therefore, some of the concepts around which this choreography revolves. Because, do we see things as they are … or as we are?

Graduates of the Professional Dance Conservatoire, the IT Dansa company, the Higher Dance Conservatoire and the Higher School of Dramatic Art join forces to work in this project, conceived by Ariadna Montfort, a dancer from Vilassar de Mar who has studied at Maurice Béjart’s school, among others, and has worked with such prestigious companies as the Israeli Batsheva Dance Company and Inbal Pinto & Avshalom Pollak, and La Veronal in Barcelona.
