Miguel Poveda

Flamenco singer Miguel Poveda’s love affair with copla popular song goes back a long way. It was born when, as a child, he listened to Manolo Caracol,
La Niña de los Peines and others on the radio. But love really blossomed and grew unstoppably as he flirted with the copla style on such albums as Suena flamenco – which included the zambras La Salvaora and La niña de fuego, amongst others– and in his collaborations with Martirio and Isabel Pantoja, as well as when he sang A ciegas for the soundtrack to Pedro Almodóvar’s film Broken Embraces. The story could end no other way: today, Poveda renders heart-felt homage to the popular genre, accompanied by a superb band, with arrangements by Joan Albert Amargós and Juan Gómez Chicuelo, his henchmen in this enterprise.
