Barcelona Crea grants

Some of the shows you’ll see at this year's edition were made possible thanks to grants awarded by the City Council to promote creation and research in a variety of cultural and scientific fields.

In 2023 alone, the Barcelona Crea grants enabled close to 175 creators to go ahead with their art and science projects. And that's because these grants are intended to offer artists support for a show's pre-production processes. Thanks to these grants, recipients can tackle lengthy, unproductive but essential processes: from conceptualisation to research, experimentation, documentation and rehearsals.

Barcelona Crea grants awarded in previous editions have contributed decisively to the staging of some of the shows playing at the Barcelona Grec Festival. They are the practical outcome of grants aimed at helping to maintain the city’s cultural and scientific momentum, offering resources for conducting research and artistic innovation processes.
