Director Mario Gas wanted to bring the third instalment of Karam, an author who won the prestigious Tony Award and the OBIE Prize in the category of best theatrical work in 2016, to the stage. The previous year, he won the Berwin Lee Playwright prize and was a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize for another of his works, Sons of the Prophet. With this theatrical piece that now comes to Grec, he tells us about the Thanksgiving meal of a family that, breaking tradition, has scheduled the meeting in a Chinatown apartment, where one of the daughter’s lives, instead of holding it at the Pennsylvania family house. During dinner, secrets will be revealed which cause arguments and begin some exhausting discussions which go on until the end of the day. It is a new type of the theatre from an author who, although speaking frequently in his texts about loss in its most diverse forms (of health, love, innocence ...) always leaves the door open to hope and shows confidence in human resilience.
A production of the Grec 2018 Festival of Barcelona and the Romea Theatre.
