Teatre al detall
saT! - Sant Andreu Teatre 13/07 - 15/07
Is a person's sexual identity more related to the sex organs between our legs or the content of our minds? This is the question the members of the Teatre al detall company have asked themselves with this new story (the third) featuring female characters, specifically girls, who are capable of overcoming their fears. The protagonist of this fiction, which is based on a number of real cases, is especially brave. When she was born she was named Adam and from a very young age she felt that the invisible backpack she carried (the one we all have and carry with us throughout our lives) was too heavy for her. Every condemnation of the way she felt and every criticism of what she liked and identified with added more weight to her backpack, until she got to the point where she could no longer carry it. She dreamt of being a girl and she felt happy, light and free. So one day she decided to "get rid of her backpack" and with it she also got rid of the "M" from her name and the "M" for masculine and became Ada.
La motxilla de l'Ada (Ada's Backpack) closes a scenic and musical trilogy dedicated to "brave girls". It started with Tragasueños, in which a girl called Dormissona managed to overcome the fears that kept her awake at night, and continued with La niña de los gorriones, a story inspired by an episode in China's recent history in which another girl, Ming Li, defied the laws of a dictator and showed us the innate wisdom of children by saving sparrows that were unjustly accused of ruining harvests. They both met with great success. In fact, Tragasueños (2014) won the Critics' Award for Best Family Show and La niña de los gorriones (2017) was nominated for two Max Awards and won the Critics' Award and a Butaca Award for Best Family Show, in addition to the Mostra Igualada Award and the Enderrock Award for Best Album for Children and Family Audiences.
