Passeig de Gràcia 02/07
Grenoble, Annecy, Aussois, Paris, some Italian towns and Rio de Janeiro... All these cities have seen the show by the choreographer Rachid Ouramdane starring Nathan Paulin, an exceptional tightrope walker who only needs a slackline high above the ground to take a stroll that will grab everyone’s attention. Defying gravity, the artist blends into a landscape that is reinterpreted by his presence. In doing so, Ouramdane shares a message about the human capacity to respect the environments in which we live. This poetic action is accompanied by soundtrack from the musician Jean-Baptiste Julien in which we can hear Nathan Paulin’s testimony and so learning more about his feelings when he is high above.
The creator is the choreographer Rachid Ouramdane, who is currently the director of Chaillot – Théâtre national de la Danse in Paris. His creations have a documentary element, as he has often collected and used the diverse stories of minorities, victims of torture or natural disasters, developing a poetics of personal stories that he uses to bring people and situations from the real world into the world of art. This is not the first time that, as he will do in Barcelona, he takes the extreme athletes and artists with whom he works and places them in historic settings or spectacular landscapes. In this way, his reflections allude to ecology and the environment. One of these artists and athletes is Nathan Paulin, a French tightrope walker who holds a dozen World Records. His longest crossing being a 2240 m long highline on the Mont Saint-Michel in May 2022.
Nathan Paulin's walk will link the Movistar Centre building, at Portal de l'Angel, with the Generali building, on Paseo de Gracia with Gran Vía. You could see the start of the action from Catalunya square.
Produced by Chaillot – Théâtre national de la Danse.
