Luqui Lagomarsino & Guillem Jiménez
Duplex Studio
Two artistic beings combine their languages and merge into a choreographic piece that invites us to slip through the cracks of otherness.
Take a look at the world around you, and sooner or later, you’ll encounter one of those cracks, doors that connect you to otherness and allow you to step into fantastic realms. These cracks suspend our everyday and digital experience, revealing themselves as magical sources. What happens when we venture into these cracks?
With the aim of opening cracks in our daily lives and merging their respective choreographic practices, both artists navigate the space between eccentric reality and wild imagination, using the journey to explore the diversity of bodies as they attempt to understand inner fascinations and contemporary life. Come and experience two artists sharing a twisted room, in its full (double) height, to examine the multifaceted nature of dance.
Duplex Studio is the first collaborative work by Guillem Jiménez and Luqui Lagomarsino, and in fact the first venture into co-creation for each of them. Luqui Lagomarsino is a choreographer and dancer born in Buenos Aires and based in Amsterdam who explores new ways of writing dramatic works through choreographic deconstructions and reorientations . He is the creator of works such as Cosas caen fuerte [Things Fall Hard] and Literal, has collaborated on Marina Abramovic’s performance art pieces imponderabilia and luminosity, and graduated from the prestigious SNDO - School for New Dance Development in Amsterdam. At Dansa Metropolitana 2024, we saw him presenting the piece Trio Z.
Guillem Jiménez is especially known for the Barcelona-based dance company he created and directs, laSADCUM, founded in 2019, which has explored the digital world and virtuality in many of its projects. They are the creators of the dance pieces The Uncanny Valley (2019), The Lesson (2020), Aclucalls [Blinkers] (2022), and Navaja [Knife] (2024). The latter two were featured at Dansa Metropolitana in 2022 and 2024 and received Dansacat awards from the Association of Dance Professionals of Catalonia, with Aclucalls winning Best Music and Best Choreography and Navaja winning Best Show.
