A group of aristocrats are about to visit Charenton mental hospital, where a group of inmates led by the Marquis de Sade are preparing a play. The play they put on stage recreates the murder of Jean-Paul Marat by Charlotte Corday, a subject that leads to reflection about the relationship between politics, sex and violence.
