A contemporary theatre reflection on the origins and current state of Europe through one of the epic poems of Western culture.
To celebrate ten years of the Moreno Bernardi Atelier, Italian choreographer and director Moreno Bernardi is staging Alberto Conejero’s adaptation of the Odyssey and in what he describes as a “polyphonic, intimate, reflective, and revealing composition”. The text that inspired the production identifies the new Cyclopes and sirens of our modern world. The staging highlights the modernity of this classical tragedy and invites us to participate in the eternal conversation between the classical and the contemporary.
Moreno Bernardi is a choreographer, director, performer, and educator, and has created nearly eighty stage works, including dance, theatre, and plays. In 2005, he founded the Moreno Bernardi Atelier, an intensive laboratory for creation and multidisciplinary stage methodology. In 2019, together with designer Elsa Peretti and with the support of the Nando and Elsa Peretti Foundation, he created Lo Spazio, a centre for artistic research and contemporary practices, leading to acclaimed productions such as Paradise, a performance based on Kae Tempest’s text that fused words, voice, and music in a truly innovative and multidisciplinary presentation presented in 2024 at the Teatre Akadèmia.
