Pequeño cúmulo de abismos

What happens if you put a black hole in a theatre? Cris Blanco talks about wormholes and time travel, but also about class struggle, a childhood spent on the margins and the welcome fantasy that has so often allowed us to escape an unbearable reality. 

Pequeño cúmulo de abismos [Small Heap of Abysses] pays tribute to the imagination that saved us when we were children by recreating the story of a group of people who meet some place (perhaps a theatre?) where there is a small abyss. It contains all possible realities seen from all possible angles and ranges from infinitesimal worlds to unfathomable macrocosms. But she just wanted to create an autobiographical piece. You’ve got an appointment with Cris Blanco.

Born in Madrid, she has lived in Barcelona for many years and since 2003 has been creating her own stage pieces and working as a performer in dance, theatre and cinema. She has appeared on stage with Cuqui and María Jerez, Amaia Urra, Juan Domínguez and Xavier Leroy, and in films with Roser Aguilar and Icíar Bollaín, among others. You may have seen her in shows like cUADRADO_fLECHA_pERSONA qUE cORRE (2004), ciencia_ficción (2010), El Agitador Vórtex (2014; shown at Grec 2017), Bad Translation (2016), Pelucas en la niebla (2018), Lo mínimo y lo pequeño (2019, with Jorge Dutor and Guillem Mont de Palol) andGrandissima illusione, co-produced by Grec 2023. Her creations have been seen on stages and in festivals across Europe, America and Asia.
