Reencarnacions II: Reflectir
Núria Andorrà
This percussion concert is inspired by the work of Hugo Roelandt, a major figure of the Belgian avant-garde in the 1970s. One of his works returns to the Miró Foundation 39 years later.
As part of the activities marking the 50th anniversary of the Joan Miró Foundation, visitors can once again view an installation by Hugo Roelandt, a key figure in European avant-garde art during the second half of the last century, originally exhibited at the Montjuïc building in 1986. It was entitled The Shape of Water and consisted of covering the terrace of the Foundation with a grid of plastic bags filled with water. Now, in collaboration with the Museum of Contemporary Art of Antwerp, the piece can once again be seen in Barcelona.
To celebrate the occasion, a percussion concert inspired by Roelandt’s work will be performed by one of the leading figures in improvisation and sound experimentation: the percussionist Núria Andorrà. She has observed how the images reflected in the water constantly change according to the light, altering their perception in real time. The same principle is applied to sound, with the percussionist using her instruments and objects to create a piece that mirrors the present, accompanied by metal plates that capture time and reflect both light and sound. Thus, the piece flows and evolves in real time, similar to Hugo Roelandt's work.
Núria Andorrà is an artist with both classical and contemporary training, always receptive to new sources of inspiration. She creates a universe where images, sound, and the body unite to express the same emotions equally, fostering creation through interdisciplinarity.
