Lali Álvarez / Melisa Hermida / Tamara Kiper
Three playwrights, two countries, and one play born on both sides of the Atlantic. They talk about the women of today, cultural differences, and violence.
An experienced photographer and her assistant spend the night in the middle of a forest. They hope to capture a photograph of a specific breed of wolf, with unique traits that make them especially beautiful. However, the plot takes a fantastic turn, revealing a world with the dances mentioned in the title, wolves, and women who will make you think about their role in today’s world, about the differences that separate worlds sharing the same space, and about how violence is used to exert power.
This is a collaboration bringing together the Xarxa de Teatres de Proximitat’s On el Teatre Batega campaign, La Badabadoc (a venue in the Gràcia neighbourhood with strong connections to the Argentine scene), and the Buenos Aires-based venue and producer Timbre 4. The playwright is Barcelona’s Lali Álvarez, an author and director known for works such as Ragazzo, Barcelona (contra la paret) [Barcelona (Against the Wall)] (Grec 2016), and LIFE (de com els arbres ens van salvar la vida) [LIFE (How Trees Saved Our Lives)] (Grec 2020), who also directed La Badabadoc’s Clarissa. Here, she’s teamed up with Argentine authors Melissa Hermida and Tamara Kiper. Both are actresses and playwrights and have created short plays such as La Discípula [The Disciple], Las preciosas [The Beautiful Ones], Una de Taninos [A Tannins Story], and El Chacal [The Jackal] (all by Melisa Hermida, whom we also saw in La família Coleman [The Coleman Family] by Claudio Tolcachir) and Guardapolvos [Dustcoats], Tamara Kiper’s debut as a playwright and director.
