West Side Story + LaKolmena BCN

Sala Montjuïc

Castell de Montjuïc - Santa Eulàlia Moat (Montjuïc Castle) 22/07

The best open-air cinema celebrates its 20th edition. Once again, Montjuïc Castle plays host to the coolest cinema screen in the city, with four nights of music and the latest audiovisual productions, as part of the Barcelona Grec Festival.

8.45 pm: A concert featuring La Kolmena BCN (percussion)
Eight percussionists, coordinated by a visual conducting system, form a band with a frenetic rhythm. It is led by two Latin American musicians, percussionist Pablo Villarreal and drummer Salvador Toscano. A dynamic, festive show that includes various musical styles.

10 pm: A screening of West Side Story (USA, 2021), by Steven Spielberg
Stephen Sondheim, who died in November 2021, was the father of musicals as we know them today. It was sad news for the world of performing arts and for many audiences. As a consolation, we can see what one of great directors of today's cinema, Steven Spielberg, has done with one of his best-known creations (Sondheim wrote the lyrics). Spielberg, like many young people of his generation, was forever marked by the adventures of the Jets and the Sharks.

Not recommended for children under the age of 12.
