Andrea Porta and Àlex Cano to give the opening speech for the Festa Major de Gràcia 2023
The captains of the CE Europa men’s and women’s football teams will be tasked with opening the local festival in Gràcia this year by reading the opening speech on 14 August. The celebrations will be held on the usual dates, from 15 to 21 August.
Andrea Porta and Àlex Cano will be delivering the opening speech for the Festa Major de Gràcia 2023. Porta, who announced her retirement from football in May, captained the CE Europa women’s team which won promotion to the Primera Federació this year. The player is hanging up her boots after 27 years playing football and ten years wearing the CE Europa colours.
Porta has played more than 200 matches in the club’s shirt, her honours including the Primera Nacional title and promotion to the Segona Federació last season, followed by promotion to the Primera Federació this season. Andrea Porta is regarded as a key figure, not only for CE Europa but also for Catalan women’s football.
For his part, Àlex Cano is the captain of the CE Europa men’s team which this year gained promotion to the Segona Federació. He also holds the club’s all-time record for the number of appearances. Cano, who will be playing for CE Europa again next season, has played a total of 443 official matches for the club, with next year his 15th season.
The festival foundation and the district office are currently finalising the details for the Festa Major de Gràcia 2023, which is being held from 15 to 21 August.
