New memberships are also up at the Zoo Club, the card scheme which offers holders unlimited visits to the site during a one-year period and various advantages and discounts. The club welcomed 3,097 new members between June and August, compared to 579 in the summer of 2019. The scheme has attracted 7,593 new members in all since January.

Launched in July, the new Nature Passport allows Zoo Club members to take part in activities. The passport has also been well received, with 1,400 people making use of it in the first two months. Activities organised every day in the summer and open to the general public also attracted plenty of visitors.

As ever, summer activity programmes for children also proved popular with 934 youngsters taking part, some 60 more than in the summer of 2019.
