Municipal nursery schools to start the 2023-24 school year on 8 September
The Barcelona Municipal Institute of Education (IMEB) has established the calendar for the next school year. The network of municipal nursery schools opens on 8 September, with the school year to conclude on 12 July 2024, while music schools and the Barcelona Municipal Music Conservatory start classes on 18 September and wind up on 21 June 2024.
The days of 4, 5, 6 and 7 September 2023 will be used as preparatory days, with 15 July 2024 used to close out the year.
The calendar will be slightly different for the four nursery schools opening for the new school year:
- EBM Can Rosés, Teixonera and Torre del Rellotge: these are due to open on 18 September.
- EBM Pere Calafell: work here should conclude at the end of September. This means that the EBM Esquitx will start the school year at the same time as the rest, on 8 September, with continuing infants. In contrast, new infants will start the year at the new premises for the EBM Pere Calafell (previously the Esquitx) on 2 October.
The list of infants with places and those on the waiting list will be published on 14 June, with the enrolment period from 15 to 21 June inclusive.
In all, 4,766 vacant places were offered for the next school year around the network of 105 schools, with 8,425 applications made.
