Barcelona Dibuixa or the festival of collective creation
The city is the scene for a new edition of Barcelona Dibuixa, a vibrant and open celebration of drawing in all its forms, with over forty well-known artists taking part.
A total of 44 artists will be conducting 39 free workshops and activities being organised at different points in the city on 18 and 19 October for the new edition of Barcelona Dibuixa, a grand celebration of participatory visual arts, open to everybody inclined to take hold of a pencil.
Museums, heritage spaces and unique facilities will be opening their doors over these two days and offering various activities open to the public, inviting people to explore their artistic side. Figures conducting the drawing activities include Adalina Coromines, Carmen de Ayora, Daniel Díaz Heredia, Eduardo Filippi, Ivan Forcadell, Lara Martínez and Rocío Quillahuman.
The programme is being held in two periods: Saturday afternoon, from 4 pm to 8 pm, and Sunday morning, from 10 am to 2 pm. Forty-two facilities and organisations will be taking part, such as the Museu Picasso, the MACBA, the Fundació Joan Miró, the Castell de Montjuïc, the Disseny Hub Barcelona and La Fabra Centre d’Art Contemporani de Barcelona. New facilities taking part in the festival this year include the Pavelló Mies van der Rohe, the Fundació Joan Brossa, the KBr Fundación Mapfre and the Reial Monestir de Santa Maria de Pedralbes.
Notable new aspects to this year’s edition include the central role of cultural and artistic mediation, an underlying thread for the festival that makes Barcelona Dibuixa a more familiar, inclusive and participatory experience getting communities and neighbourhoods involved. Sixteen organisations, including the Fundació Pere Mitjans, the Grup Cooperatiu TEB, the Associació Discapacitat Visual Catalunya, the Fundació Tot Raval and the Biblioteca Sant Pau – Santa Creu have promoted joint creation processes that have enriched the projects of artists and facilities.
