Cleaning stepped up in the district of Ciutat Vella
Street cleaning teams are being strengthened in Ciutat Vella with eighteen extra workers and new machinery to improve road sweeping and eliminate graffiti from façades. The additional workers correspond to one of the initiatives to adapt the district’s services to the needs of the current context.
A new operation with three road sweeping machines and a high-pressure water vehicle will help clean stains from paving, which is highly porous, and reach spots which are difficult to access, for instance beneath urban furniture.
The intensive cleaning of the façades of regular buildings has enabled 1,378 pieces of graffiti and 264 posters to be removed.
The extra cleaning resources in Ciutat Vella correspond to one of the 120 initiatives included in the government measure to tackle Covid-19 in the district.
