Disruptions to mobility in Barcelona for Catalan National Day 2021

Various ceremonies and events are being organised on 11 September which will restrict traffic and alter public transport services in the city, particularly in the afternoon, with the demonstration organised by the ANC at 4.30 pm.

Extra metro services, traffic diversions and limitations on twenty bus routes:

The D50, H16 and 19 bus routes will be diverted in the morning.

In the afternoon, from 2.30 pm to 9 pm, the following bus routes will be changed or limited: D20, D50, H12, H14, H16, V13, V15, V17, V19, 7, 19, 22, 39, 47, 52, 54, 55, 59 and 120.

As from 4 pm people are recommended to avoid the Urquinaona metro station and use nearby alternatives such as Catalunya, Universitat, Passeig de Gràcia and Tetuan.

All metro lines will be operating extra trains from 1 pm to 9 pm, particularly lines 1 and 4, with a 22% increase on the usual circulation of trains.

Prohibition on parking

Parking is prohibited in Av. Marquès de l’Argentera (both sides), between Pg. Picasso and Pla de Palau, from 6 am on Friday to 8 pm on Saturday.

Parking will also be prohibited in Via Laietana (Besòs side), between Fontanella i Ramon Mas, and Pg. Isabel II (side nearest the sea), between the section from Sota Muralla to Pla de Palau, from 10 am to 8 pm on 11 September.

Waste containers and Bicing stations

Containers for household waste will be removed in Av. Marquès de l’Argentera, between Pla de Palau and Pg. Circumval·lació, and Bicing stations in Marquès de l’Argentera will be out of service.

Measures to follow at demonstrations

If you’re going to one of the on-site events planned, remember you need to respect the measures approved for the Covid-19 health situation:

  • Face masksare obligatory.
  • Respect the distance of 1.5 metresbetween attendees.
  • Wash your hands frequently with soap or hand sanitiser.
  • Do not share objects, such as placards.
  • No eating or drinking.
