The Farró-Galvany on-demand bus comes into service

The district of Sarrià - Sant Gervasi is improving its mobility. As from Monday, the new on-demand bus service for the Farró-Galvany neighbourhood helps local people get to and from basic services such as the CAP Adrià and the Hospital Plató. This is the fourth on-demand bus service offered by TMB after the services introduced in Montbau, Torre Baró and Torre Baró Sud - Vallbona Sud.

The service works with the El Meu Bus app. Users simply need to register with the app, follow the indications to book a journey and go to the relevant bus-stop when the bus is about to arrive. When there are no journey requests, the bus will remain at a standby point.

A dry run was made last week for local people to try the service and get an idea of waiting times. Over three hundred new users have registered following the trial, which provided information for a thousand people.

The rest of the services in the area continue to function as usual. The V11 service will change its route slightly in the direction of the city centre as from 5 December, circulating from C/ Mandri through the streets of Vico, Freixa and Vallmajor, with two new stops. After that it will continue along Via Augusta as it does now.

Flexible and adaptable system

The route for the on-demand bus service is based on a smart system which matches the various journey requests made in advance. In the case of Farró-Galvany, there are 16 fixed bus-stops to choose from. Users must indicate the stops where they will get on and off, the time (Monday to Friday from 7 am to 9 pm, Saturday from 8 am to 9 pm and Sunday from 9 am to 9 pm), and whether journeys are one-offs or regular.

Requests can be made by calling the free phone number or via the mobile app, which also allows users to change or cancel requests, indicate if they are travelling with a children’s pushchair or in a wheelchair, mark favourite stops, check bookings and get alerts on changes to the service.
