The projects will also be presenting their work at Gamescom in August, the most important fair in this sector in Europe. In all, a record number of 174 projects of 54 nationalities have been presented, doubling the figure for last year.

The GameBCN incubation programme offers training and mentoring to facilitate the production of videogames and maximise business opportunities for four teams from Catalonia, one from Madrid and one from France, with videogames for PC, mobiles and consoles. The teams can also enjoy monthly events and talks with industry experts.

The six groups taking part in the programme are Open House Games, with the game Eva’s Odyssey; FromDust Studio, with the game OxySpace; Grasita Games, with the game KIDDO; Fisherman’s Games, with the game Project Solar; Project Legends, with the game Soccer Legends, and Royale Monkey, with the game Avian.

The new creative industries business hub at Palo Alto is the host for this second year of the event to attract talent and continue driving the creation and development of new companies in this sector in Barcelona and Catalonia.

Founded by Simón Lee, GameBCN is promoted by the Directorate-General for Innovation and Digital Culture at the Government of Catalonia, the Councillor’s Office for Tourism and Creative Industries at Barcelona City Council and the innovation consultancy Peninsula.

The initiative also has strategic partners such as Marvelous, Socialpoint and Gameloft, major multinationals in videogames.
