Prevention measures for Covid-19 as from 4 June

As from Friday, 4 June, bars and restaurants, cultural and sports facilities can stay open until 1 am. Capacity at commercial establishments and sports facilities increases to 70%. Eating and drinking will also be allowed in certain places such as picnic areas and rest areas. (Updated on 14 June 2021)

Mobility

  • Entering and leaving Catalonia is allowed, and the curfew is also lifted.
  • Social gatherings are allowed, up to a maximum of ten people. This restriction does not apply in the case of people from the same household.
  • Eating and drinking is allowed in certain places such as picnic areas and rest areas.

Workplaces

  • People are recommended to limit labour mobility as much as possible and to prioritise teleworking and flexible working hours.

Commerce

  • Capacity limited to 70% as from 4 June.
  • Commercial establishments and shopping centres can open throughout the week, with no limits according to floor space.
  • Eateries at shopping centres can now also open. Recreational and children’s play areas in shopping centres can open from 4 June.
  • Latest closing time 10 pm.
  • Convenience stores can open until 1 am.
  • Non-sedentary markets and fairs limited to 70% capacity as from 4 June.

Eateries

  • As from 4 June, bars and restaurants can open from 6 am to 1 am.
  • Indoor capacity, suitably ventilated, is limited to 50%, and 100% for terraces.
  • Maximum of six people per table.
  • Distances of 2 metres between tables.
  • Customers can eat and drink at the bar again, with a distance of 1.5 metres between people.

Culture

  • Theatres, cinemas, auditoriums, libraries, museums, archives, art galleries, concert halls and circuses can open with 70% of their capacity, up to a maximum of 1,000 people indoors and 3,000 outside and in spaces with extra ventilation.
  • Special events such as galas, awards ceremonies and festivals can go ahead, with a capacity of 70%.
  • As from 4 June, cultural venues with a capacity for more than 15,000 people can hold events using 20% of that capacity.
  • Popular culture and traditional activities are allowed outdoors, indoors and in defined spaces with perimeters, with 70% capacity. Spectators must be seated, with capacities to be established according to ventilation conditions, controls on access and mobility for the activity.
  • As from 4 June, food and drink can be served at venues offering performing arts, music events and public shows.
  • Community facilities can hold activities on their premises with 70% capacity and well-ventilated spaces.
  • Local festivals, celebrations and other popular festivals are allowed, providing there is no crowding and limits on capacity are respected.
  •  Venues to close at 1 am at the latest.

Sport

  • Capacity at sports facilities and swimming pools is 70%, with no bookings needed and no access checks.
  • Indoor group sports activities can operate with 750%, in well-ventilated spaces.
  • Open-air sports are allowed with no limits on numbers.
  • No restrictions apply to federated sport. Spectators may only attend up to a capacity of 70% in outdoor and indoor facilities alike, except for national and international competitions, where the maximum number of spectators is 1,000 indoors and 3,000 outdoors. As from 4 June, sports facilities with a capacity greater than 15,000 people can be used, without exceeding 20% of that capacity.
  • As from 14 June, the public may attend professional LFP football league matches and ACB basketball matches.
  • These limitations do not affect sports technical perfection and performance centres and professional sports facilities.
  • Facilities to close at 1 am at the latest.

Education and leisure for children and young people

  • On-site study is allowed for all regulated study programmes.
  • Capacities at universities will be 50%.
  • As from 14 June, end-of-year celebrations and graduations for non-university graduates can be held, with an outdoor capacity of 500 people and an indoor capacity of 250.
  • Extra-curricular and educational leisure activities are allowed in groups of six infants at the most, respecting the established measures and prioritising outdoor activity. Groups of ten children are allowed for extra-curricular and educational leisure activities.
  • School outings allowed beyond county boundaries and including overnight stays, respecting school bubble groups.
  • Leisure centres and indoor children’s parks can re-open with 50% capacity. Bar and restaurant services on these premises are allowed to operate.

Religious and civil ceremonies

  • Capacities of 70% and a maximum of 1,000 people inside and 70% and a maximum of 3,000 people outside, or in indoor spaces with extra ventilation.

Gambling activities

  • As from 4 June, amusement arcades, casinos and bingo halls may open with capacity limited to 70%, up to a maximum of 500 people and ensuring the minimum established ventilation. If certain other conditions are met on ventilation and air quality and guarantees on measures to avoid clusters of people, these establishments may open with up to a maximum of 1,000 people.

Parks and gardens

  • Usual opening times for parks, gardens and children’s play areas, with capacity limited to 50%.

Congresses, conventions, trade fairs and local festivals

  • On-site activities for congresses, conventions and trade fair activities allowed with a capacity of 70% and a maximum of 1,000 people indoors and 3,000 people outdoors or indoor spaces with extra ventilation.

Nightlife venues

  • Nightlife venues are closed.

Public transport

  • Service levels remain at 100%, including rush hours between 6 am and 9 am on working days. The metro service operates from 5 am to midnight from Sundays to Thursdays and from 5 am to 2 am on Fridays and Saturdays.

Amusment parks and fairs

  • As from 4 June, parks, amusement parks and indoor leisure activities can operate with a capacity of 50%.

Health and prevention measures

Suitable health and prevention measures such as the use of face masks and guaranteeing physical distancing must continue to be adopted in all spaces and for all activities. The City Police will be working to ensure compliance with the current measures, with fines where they are not observed.
