Food shops in Poblenou’s leisure triangle to be banned from opening at night

A ban on food shops opening at night comes into force in August in the area known as the leisure triangle in the neighbourhood of El Parc i la Llacuna del Poblenou, in Sant Martí. The measure is intended to improve coexistence with local residents, combat outdoor binge drinking and reduce excess noise at night.

Food and drink establishments offering over-the-counter or off-the-shelf sales in this area will not be able to open from Wednesday to Sunday, between 10 pm and 7 am, or on the eve of public holidays which fall on Mondays or Tuesdays. The so-called leisure triangle in the neighbourhood of El Parc i la Llacuna del Poblenou is the area between Av. Meridiana (side nearest the Besòs), and the streets of Tànger, Llacuna, Pallars, Badajoz, Pujades and Marina.

The District of Sant Martí is rolling out a series of measures as part of a priority action plan for this night-life area, to mitigate the effects of night-time activity here which have led to complaints and denouncements from local people.

Joint work for safe and respectful nights

Within the framework of the Board for Safe and Civic Nights, the City Council is working alongside residents’ associations and local night-life organisations, youth associations, the ombudsman, the different police corps and other bodies to address the intensive use of public space at night and find comprehensive solutions.
