Medals and plaques awarded to City Police officersAwards were given to City Police offices and internal units who were unable to receive them last year owing to the situation with Covid-19.
This year’s ceremony paid homage to some professional careers and some outstanding actions by officers in 2020. The annual event also highlighted the work of the police corps during a year conditioned by the pandemic.
The following distinctions were awarded:
- 103 medals of merit in the bronze category for various contributions to the city during the socio-economic and health crisis, in accordance with the regulation on honours and gratification for the City Police, approved by the Full Council session of 24 July 2020.
- 4 bronze medals for 25 years of service.
- 5 plaques in recognition of internal units for representing the corps well and the provision of good service to the city.
Besides the Mayor, Ada Colau, the ceremony was attended by the Deputy Mayor for Security and Prevention, Albert Batlle; the Manager for Safety and Prevention, Maite Casado; the head of the City Police, Pedro Velázquez, and other institutional officials.
