The information from the app developed by the Municipal Data Office (OMD) comes from notary registers of property sales and purchases in Barcelona. The analysis and publication of data on other forms of property transmission are anticipated soon, such as inheritances and donations.

The data are updated weekly, with users able to see the evolution of house prices and other sources for sales prices for flats changing hands. Very accurate searches can also be made for the volume and average price per square metre for registered sales operations, and statistics can be downloaded.

Drop in the number of sales

In terms of homes changing hands, the 2,982 sales operations from the fourth quarter of 2020 represent a drop of 11.9%. L’Eixample, with 482 sales, and Sant Martí, with 404, and Horta-Guinardó, with 328, are the districts with the highest figures.

Sales prices for housing maintained a slight upward trend despite the crisis. Forecasts for the short-term are for sales prices to come to a standstill or to drop slightly. In terms of the evolution of prices, the average price in the fourth quarter of 2020 was 3,139 euros per square metre.
