Based on interaction with the person in question and information gathered using a form with 31 indicators and 122 measuring elements, an assessment can be made of the risk of the person being sexually exploited, and whether their physical and mental integrity is at risk at the time of the assessment. Depending on the situation and the support requested by the person, they will be given access to the protection and care mechanisms in operation.

The tool has been developed via a participatory process and consensus between all the parties involved in detecting victims of human trafficking for the purpose of sexual exploitation and will complement other identification measures.

Victims of human trafficking for the purpose of sexual exploitation are mainly women (adults and minors alike). Methods for capturing them or moving them usually involve violence, intimidation, deception and abuse owing to their needs or the vulnerable situation they find themselves in.
