Every year since 1997, these medals have been awarded to individuals and organisations whose social or professional work has made them a point of reference for culture, the defence of people’s rights and freedoms and the city’s civic values.

Medals from the city

The five Medals of Honour awarded at a city level, a choice approved by the Full Council, highlighted the effort made in the fight against Covid-19:

  • Barcelona Association of Doctors
  • Barcelona Association of Nurses
  • Catalan Association of Social Workers
  • Catalan Board of Third Sector Social Entities
  • Barcelona Hotel Guild

Medals from the districts

Each of the ten districts chooses two individuals or organisations which deserve the Medal of Honour for their community work. This year’s medals went to twelve groups and organisations, five women and three men from fields as diverse as education, artistic promotion, collective memory, integration and community struggle.
