Bike lanes in Passeig de la Zona Franca now open!
The new bike lanes in Passeig de la Zona Franca are now open, connecting the neighbourhoods of La Marina with the city’s cyclable network. The new lanes have enabled a revamp to the spatial layout for mobility in the whole area, with priority given to journeys on foot, on public transport and by bike.Passeig de la Zona Franca has a central reservation with vegetation and will have the following lanes in each direction:
- One traffic lane.
- One bus lane.
- One service lane: loading and unloading, bus-stops and parking.
- One bike lane.
- The pavement.
Three new pedestrian crossings have also been created along the street.
Nearly 30 km of bike lanes in one year
New bike lanes covering a total distance of 29.4 km have been created since 2020 in:
- Pg. Zona franca.
- C/ Roger de Llúria.
- Gran Via.
- C/ València.
- C/ Pau Claris.
- Pg. Santa Coloma.
- C/ Castillejos.
- C/ Indústria.
- C/ Creu Coberta-Ctra. Sants.
- Av. Meridiana.
- Via Augusta.
- C/ Aragó.
In some cases, bike lanes have been introduced along the whole length of the street, and in other cases certain sections.
Towards healthier and more sustainable mobility
The new Zona Franca bike lane comes in addition to measures to improve journeys made on foot, on public transport and by bike, reducing pollution and regaining public space for local people.
