Improvement and reurbanisation work begins at Parc de la Font d’en Magués

The Nou Barris district is starting work this summer to improve Access to Parc de la Font d’en Magués, in the Torre Baró neighbourhood, a re-urbanisation project to dignify the natural space and encourage local residents to make use of this healthy environment.

Boasting an investment of 880,000 euros, the intervention project covers 4,541 square metres of area and is divided into three areas of action, which will not only bring about improved accessibility to the park but also generate new naturalised and community-use spaces:

  • Pedestrian path: es reurbanitzarà the 330-metre section making up part of Torrent de la Font d’en Magués up to the aqueduct path will be reurbanised, with fins al pas de l’aqüeducte, amb una 3.5-metre path.
  • Access to the park: the work will also reshape Placeta de l’avinguda d’Escolapi Càncer, which will become an access point to the park and where operations will include the installation of an insect hotel.
  • Rest area: a new picnic area will be created after the aqueduct, with urban furniture, a bicycle parking area and waste bins.

The re-naturalisation project will prioritise native plants, focusing on Mediterranean species such as pines, holm oaks, lentisks and strawberry trees, and a lighting system will be incorporated into the re-urbanised environments. The work is expected to finish around the start of 2022.
