The market will have just over 10,000 square metres of facilities and be built on the site of the current car park. This will enable the existing building to remain in use until the new facility opens.

The Mercat de Montserrat is located between Via Favència, Carrer d’Aiguablava, Carrer de les Torres and Camí Vell de la Pedrera.

Given the significant slope in the terrain, the team which drafted the project, ONA Arquitectes, have planned a market with a ground floor on two levels for a supermarket and the market stalls, with access points in the square and in C/ Aiguablava. The building will also have two underground floors to be used for storage units and car parking, along with an upper floor for offices and other uses.

The market will be built using stone and concrete inside and outside. The upper sections will use light and transparent materials, with rooftops featuring vegetation.
