Work to renew the L5 metro line still on track
Work to completely renew part of the L5 metro line continues at a good pace and should be completed on 31 August, ensuring the network is fully operational for the start of the new school year. The section between Congrés and Vilapicina has been affected since 1 July, with the Horta station also to be affected from 1 August.
Services on lines L1 to L4 have been bolstered by 20% for the duration of the work in an effort to provide people with a transport alternative. A complementary shuttle bus service has also been laid on and follows a similar route to that covered by the affected metro stops.
The complete renewal of three kilometres of track will help improve the reliability of the line, reduce the number of incidents originating in the infrastructure and resolve the issue of vibrations that affect various sectors in the neighbourhoods the L5 goes through. Once work is completed, maintenance will be more efficient and costs optimised. The work involves an investment of 15 million euros.
