Over the second weekend of October, some 30 Montjuïc facilities will be joining forces to carry out their own activities and joint initiatives, giving Barcelona’s residents a new opportunity to rediscover and reclaim the park. In this second edition of Viu Montjuïc, besides the 22 joint organising facilities from the initial project, a number of cultural organisations from the neighbourhoods surrounding the park are also joining in to build alliances and run activities that involve both the large facilities in the park and the cultural network from the local neighbourhoods.

Activities include guided routes through the park, with a look at the history of the La Marina neighbourhood through working class movements, the Spanish Civil War and Francoism in Montjuïc, plus a stroll around the mountain organised by the Barcelona Fire Service, to raise awareness about the issue of fire. Other activities include open days and guided tours at local facilities, as well as music, dance and theatre performances. Notable projects and works include Se’ns moren les plantas and Glassmur, as well as the music and dance shows We Are (T)Here, Nest, Romeria de Montjuïc and Cossoc. This year’s edition also features a food, drink and leisure area in the Jardins de Joan Brossa. Prior booking is not required, unless capacity is limited due to the nature of the activity.

Successful participation in the first edition

The first edition of Viu Montjuïc was held on 16 and 17 October 2021, with the intention of making it an annual event and acting as a springboard for future collaboration and synergies between the operators on the mountain. It proved a huge success with the public, with some 37,000 people attending.
