On 15 June: “Join in to conserve the sea and the beaches!”
Under the slogan “Join in to conserve the sea and the beaches!” and coordinated by the Beach Centre, a member of the Barcelona Environmental Facilities Network, this clean-up initiative is being held on Sunday, 15 June.
Within the context of Barcelona City Council’s Pla Endreça and the “Let’s Clean Up Europe” campaign by the Catalan Waste Agency, this collaborative initiative involves local organisations which selflessly hold awareness and collection activities along the coast with the help of volunteers.
On this occasion, the organisations are the Associació PlasticFREEwave, Clean Beach Initiative, Fundació For The Best World, Good Karma Projects, Grup WWF Barcelona, Innoceana, No Más Colillas en el Suelo Barcelona, Surfrider and Underwater Barcelona.
Volunteer groups headed by these organisations and staff from municipal teams from the street cleaning service will be working from 9.30 am to 1 pm on Sunday, 15 June, clearing waste from the beaches of Sant Sebastià, Sant Miquel, Barceloneta and Somorrostro. All the material collected will be taken to be separated and categorised at the Beach Centre (Somorrostro beach). In a festive atmosphere, there will also be a talk on respect, waste management and the responsibility of producers to foster responsible consumption. The registration process is now open.
