Election preparations adapted to the current health measuresRecent weeks have seen work carried out to locate new polling stations, to adapt the electoral process for the elections to the Parliament of Catalonia on 14 February. The goal is to guarantee everybody’s right to vote, ensuring the process is compatible with the current health measures.
In comparison with the last elections, 33% more polling stations and 34% more voting tables are planned this time. The use of municipal markets and municipal sport halls as polling stations is also being planned for the first time ever, to create new voting points.
Some of the polling stations used on previous occasions have been ruled out because of their characteristics, with efforts made to find and prepare new premises where ventilation and physical distancing can be guaranteed, 126 of them to be exact.
The organisation of this election requires more human and material resources than on other occasions and among other things must guarantee cleaning before and after polling.
