Extra school support for the most vulnerable children with ‘Èxit estiu 20’

The ‘Èxit estiu 20’ programme starts in July and offers extra educational support for students in vulnerable situations whose learning has been affected by Covid-19. A maximum of 680 places are available for children in their fifth and sixth years of primary school or first year of secondary school to benefit from the programme, which works on basic skills and study habits.

Seventeen schools in the districts of Sants-Montjuïc, Nou Barris and Sant Andreu (13 secondary and 4 primary/secondary schools) are offering daily two-hour sessions, either from 9 am to 11 am or from 11.30 am to 1.30 pm, from 1 to 16 July.

Besides general educational support, there will be an emphasis on Catalan language learning for newly arrived youngsters who have not used it in the last few months, as well as conversation practice in English.

Three secondary schools will be providing complementary schooling with artistic activities such as literature, dance, visual arts and music, thanks to collaboration with the municipal Neighbourhood Plan.

Full prevention measures

The schools will be applying full safety and prevention measures, such as disinfection of the spaces used, the generalised use of face masks and hand sanitiser, and hand-washing before and after sessions.

Each centre can take a maximum of forty students, organised into groups of ten people.
