Backing for 199 projects to incentivise local commerce and generate quality jobs

In the ninth edition of the ‘Impulsem el que fas’ subsidies, a total of 2.25 million euros will be awarded among the initiatives selected, allowing 38 new businesses in the local economy to open and support to be given to existing companies.

This year’s call has eight categories:

  • Economic activity in empty ground-floor premises and market stalls.
  • Economic activity in municipal ground-floor premises.
  • Economic diversification and protection of local commerce and services in busy areas (EGA).
  • Social economy and other alternatives in the impact economy.
  • Promotion of quality local jobs.
  • Social and technological innovation in the care for ageing economy.
  • Sustainable food and responsible consumption.
  • Dones Lidera. Women entrepreneurs, professionals and directors.

Among other things, the subsidies are to help with the development of communication plans, marketing and sales for local businesses, improvement of job prospects for migrants, the under 30s, the long-term unemployed over 50 and women, funding for eight projects with tech solutions for care and ageing, support for 27 organisations working to promote sustainable food and responsible consumption and support for the development of professional careers and entrepreneurial projects headed by women.

Support for over a thousand projects in nine editions

The ‘Impulsem el que fas’ subsidies began in 2017 to provide social and economic support for areas and collectives identified as priorities for Barcelona City Council. There have been nine editions with over 5,000 applications to date, with funding given to 1,400 projects and totalling 24.7 million euros.
