New collaboration agreement for 50 million euros to fund public facilities

The agreement signed by Barcelona Provincial Council and the City Council will enable 50 million euros to be used to fund public infrastructures and facilities in the spheres of education, sports and culture.

Funding by Barcelona Provincial Council over the current term of office includes:

  • 20 million euros to come from an unconditional investment fund, allowing for improvements and extensions to schools.
  • 30 million euros to be used for the following projects:
    • New cultural facility at the Fabra i Coats, accounting for 10,2 million euros. This will allow for the creation of the Museum for the Interpretation of Work and the City, the completion of the Art factory and the Contemporary Art Centre, work on the building which will house the Sant Andreu Municipal Music School and more.
    • Construction of the Espronceda Municipal Sports Centre, with a budgetary item of 9,660,677 euros. The centre will feature an archery hall, a table-tennis hall, a sports hall and two artistic gymnastics halls.
    • Construction of the La Sagrera Municipal Sports Centre, with a budget allocation of 7,81 million euros. This includes the restitution of the summer swimming pools and four padel courts.
    • Extension to L’Illa Municipal Sports Hall, with 1,529,323 euros. This will allow for the construction of the new PAV-2 court on top of the existing one and the structural consolidation and renovation of the existing building.
    • Construction of a new provisional multi-purpose sports hall in the Parc de Bederrida, with a budget allocation of 800,000 euros. This facility will be used while L’Illa Municipal Sports Hall is extended, with a PAV-3 court also to be installed.
