Opposition proposals from the full council meeting of 29 September 2021

September’s full council meeting approved four proposals: one from JxCat to create a coordinator post for the quality of public space; one from Cs in favour of guaranteeing equal access to vocational training; one from the ERC to promote energy communities, and one from the PP to re-open nightlife. The proposals from the ERC and the PP include content for an institutional declaration. The proposal from BCN Canvi was rejected.

Junts per Catalunya put forward a proposal urging the municipal government to change its organisational chart to create a coordinator for the quality of public space. This figure would work towards the maintenance and cleaning of the city’s streets, squares and parks. The proposal was approved unanimously, with all parties voting in favour.

The proposal from Ciutadans called for the Barcelona Education Consortium to provide information, guidance and professional and vocational advice for schools and families, to guarantee equal access to vocational training. The proposal was approved with votes from BComú, the PSC, JxCat, Cs, the PP, BCN Canvi and the independent councillor, with no votes against it and the ERC abstaining.

The proposal from Barcelona pel Canvi called on the municipal government to close down Barcelona Energia. The proposal was rejected, with Cs, the PP, BCN Canvi and the independent councillor all in favour, while the ERC, BComú and the PSC voted against it and JxCat abstained.

Esquerra Republicana de Catalunya put forward a proposal with content for an institutional declaration calling on the municipal government to make a commitment to fostering energy communities, allocating part of the Més Barcelona funds and the twenty million euros agreed on in the municipal budget for 2021. The proposal was approved with votes in favour from the ERC, BComú, the PSC and JxCat, with Cs, the PP, BCN Canvi and the independent councillor voting against it.

The proposal from the Partit Popular also set out content for an institutional declaration, calling for a resolution from the Government of Catalonia to allow nightlife establishments in the city to open. The proposal was approved, with favourable votes from BComú, the PSC, Cs, the PP, BCN Canvi and the independent councillor, while the ERC voted against it and JxCat abstained.
