Pre-enrolment and enrolment starts at municipal nursery schools
The pre-enrolment process can be conducted online on the City Council’s procedures website from 5 to 16 May or at one of the city’s 105 nursery schools. There are 4,679 places available at nursery schools for the 2025-2026 academic year.
The overall capacity of the city’s municipal nursery schools for the coming year will be 8,845 places, distributed into 624 groups of infants up to the age of two, with 542 places reserved for infants with special education needs.
The list of municipal nursery schools is now available, with centres listed by district. Bear in mind the key dates in the pre-enrolment and enrolment process:
- List of available places published: 2 May 2025.
- Submission of applications, online: 5 to 16 May 2025.
- Submission of applications in person (always with an appointment, contacting the first-choice nursery school): 5 to 16 May 2025.
- Publication of the list of pre-enrolment applications on the nursery school website with provisional scores: 22 May 2025.
- Period for appeals in person at the nursery school: from 23 to 29 May 2025.
- Publication of the list of pre-enrolment applications with definitive scores: 30 May 2025.
- Draw for cut-off number: 30 May 2025, at 11.30 am, in the function room of the Barcelona Municipal Institute of Education (Pl. Espanya, 5).
- Publication on the nursery school website of the list of infants admitted, and waiting list where applicable: 11 June 2025.
- Enrolment: 12 to 20 June 2025 (inclusive). Management at nursery schools will call families to arrange an appointment.
