Process under way to award protected homes at the Illa Glòries
The application submission period is open until Friday, 17 January, at 2.30 pm, offering participants a chance to be awarded one of the protected homes at the Illa Glòries, the largest protected housing project currently under way in the city and consisting of four blocks with a total of 238 homes, to be offered with affordable social rents and leaseholds.Applications must be submitted online on the website of the Barcelona register of applicants for officially protected housing. The applicant must be registered on the list and meet the requirements established in the terms and conditions of the call, according to the type of home selected.
Once the submission period ends, the provisional list of eligible applicants will be published, and once any possible appeals relating to these lists are resolved, the definitive lists will be published and applicants assigned a random number through an IT system. The draw should be held at the end of the first quarter of the year.
Illa Glòries, home to over 800 people
Illa Glòries is located in the space delimited by the Gran Via de les Corts Catalanes, Pl. Glòries and C/ Encants Vells. The development will provide homes for over 800 people as it will have 238 flats with one, two or three bedrooms, eleven of them adapted for people with reduced mobility. The homes will be awarded with two formulas guaranteeing the land remains publicly owned: 125 with affordable social rents and 113 with leaseholds. The rest will be awarded to people affected by an expropriation process (32) and the Emergency Board (5).
This development, the largest under way in the city, is being driven by the Barcelona Municipal Institute for Housing and Renovation (IMHAB) with a municipal investment of 44 million euros and is expected to be completed in the second quarter of next year.
