To make this possible, a traffic lane will be eliminated in C/ Maignon, between Av. Vallcarca and C/ Mare de Déu del Coll, along with another lane in C/ Mare de Déu del Coll, between C/ Maignon and Travessera de Dalt. Traffic in Av. República Argentina will also be able to turn left into Pl. Lesseps.

The project has been agreed on with the education community at the school, which requested measures to improve the area surrounding the school, such as school-specific signage, measures to cut vehicle speeds in C/ Mare de Déu del Coll, greater presence from the City Police in Travessera de Dalt and more frequent crossing times with the traffic lights in Travessera de Dalt.

With the proposal agreed on, work is now under way to draft the project with the education community and a participatory process will be conducted with children, the schools and the parents’ associations. The project will have a budget of 390,000 euros, with work due to be completed in April next year.

The project forms part of the ‘Protecting Schools’ programme to make public space around education centres safe, healthy and pleasant. Areas around 175 schools will have been improved by the end of this year.
