Smou app now includes availability of spaces in city car parks
People using private vehicles can now use the Smou personal mobility app to check parking availability as near as possible to their destination. The new feature means users can now check their phone for updated information on the 150 car parks and 45,000 off-street parking spaces in the city.
Private vehicle users who check the app for parking availability near their destination will see an intuitive map of Barcelona indicating the various car parks covered by the service. Touching each point opens up a summary detailing the name, address, opening times and hourly parking rate at the car park, the level of availability, the types of vehicles admitted, a list of services offered (for instance, 24-hour opening, multi-use cars and electric charging) and information on the maximum dimension for vehicles accessing the facility.
Looking for parking quickly, easily and intuitively
In terms of availability at each car park, this is indicated by a traffic-light system which immediately and easily provides information so that users can decide where to park: green means plenty of parking is available at that moment, yellow means average availability and red means there is little parking available. If no information is available at the time, the indicator will appear in grey.
For the moment, users can check the availability of 75% of parking spaces covered by app in real time. This figure will gradually increase.
Promoted in conjunction with the Barcelona Garage Guild, the goal of the initiative is to help reduce time spent looking for parking and in turn reduce traffic circulation, parking in public spaces and pollution.
With more than 570,000 users and a million and a half monthly parking operations, Smou is an app which helps people plan and personalise their mobility without needing to download various apps.
