Subsidies to mitigate the effects of the pandemic for cultural projects

The application period for the special subsidy call by the Barcelona Institute of Culture to mitigate the effects of the health crisis opens on 15 June. The call comes within the context of the municipal shock plans to support the city’s cultural network, strengthening the institutional commitment to culture and helping to consolidate it as a right for people.

Applications can be made online as from Monday 15 June. The Citizen Office for Culture will be offering an information and advice service for organisations and associations that require support in person. In this case it is necessary to make an appointment using this form.

The goal is to subsidise cultural projects in the city for 2020 which have been affected by the health crisis, as well as new projects resulting from the situation.

A total of 1.3 million euros has been earmarked for the subsidies, with a maximum of 20,000 euros per project. The two budgets, one of 1 million euros and the other of 300,000 euros, will both cover up to 80% of the cost of the project and will be compatible with each other.

In order to include all projects equally and help large and small cultural projects alike, the budget has been divided as follows:

-Type 1: Projects with a budget equal to or more than100,000,00 euros
-Type 2: Projects with a budget of between 30,000,00 and 99,999,00 euros
-Type 3: Projects with a budget equal to or less than 29,999,00 euros

The criteria for distributing the subsidies will be the same as in the usual general call published in January, with the application period to conclude on 30 June.
