Summer activities for young children and teenagers get under wayThe City Council is organising 983 summer activities in collaboration with 479 different entities, including recreational and educational bodies, sports clubs and associations, parents’ associations and other organisations. The number of places available has increased by 23% compared to last year.
The school holidays are here, bringing summer activities with them for more than 115,000 children and teenagers in Barcelona. This summer there are 983 recreational, sports, educational and cultural activities being run for children between the ages of 1 and 17, with 317,520 places available over the whole school holiday period, a 23% rise compared to last year.
The activity programme, entitled ‘T’estiu molt’, aims to ensure children’s right to leisure, at the same time conveying values such as getting on with others, companionship and respect for the environment, all in a fun and safe way.
Once again this year, recreational summer schools account for the majority of activities, followed by sports campuses, nursery school activities and summer camps. Full information on the activities can be found at the ‘T’estiu molt’ summer activity website.
Families and children who need special help getting onto activities due to economic or personal inclusion needs also have access to an economic support programme. A total of 3,757,000 euros has been allocated this year, 19% more than the previous year, with a total of 20,648 families getting grants.
