All set for The Nose Race 2022

The final days of the year are almost here, bringing with them a new edition of The Nose Race (Cursa dels Nassos). Antonio Rebollo, the archer who lit the Olympic flame in the opening ceremony for the 1992 Olympics, will be getting the race under way with one of his legendary shots to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Barcelona Olympic Games.

The Nose Race has two categories: a 5 km version and a 10 km version. The first is exclusively for a maximum of 50 elite athletes and will set off from C/ Arquitecte Sert at 7 pm. The run will be shown live on the websites  barcelona.cat/esports and cursadenassos.barcelona.

The 10 km run sets off from C/ Selva de Mar at 5.15 pm and finishes in the same location. The route is near the city coast and follows a fairly flat circuit, ideal for runners to beat their personal best times. There were 10,000 number bibs available and so far nearly 8,000 runners have signed up to take part. Women runners currently account for nearly 30% of the field. In terms of elite runners taking part in the 10 km version, notable figures include Meritxell Soler, Cristina Silva, Lithuania’s Dimitrijs Serjogins and Artur Bossy.
