‘Get down to La Rambla’ from 4 to 20 June!

The second stage of the campaign ‘Get down to La Rambla’ is on from 4 to 20 June. Organised with the Associació Amics de La Rambla, the idea behind this initiative is for people in Barcelonan to rediscover one of the best-known spots in the city and reencounter unique spaces through culture, gastronomy, sports and leisure for all the family.

The campaign also offers discounts and special prices at various cultural venues such as the Palau Güell, the MACBA, the Museu Marítim, the Museu de Cera and the Aquarium. The Colom municipal sports centre will also be organising multifunctional classes in disciplines such as Zumba, body combat, CrossFit and global training, which are open to everybody.

The initiative seeks to compensate for the impact the pandemic has had on the retail and hospitality sector at this city hub, due to the drop in international visitors.

Over the two weeks there’s a chance to discover the projects which degree students at the Elisava design school have produced to recover the avenue’s iconic flower stalls.

Highlights

  • Guided tours: guided by historians, these strolls are a chance to discover hidden corners of La Rambla, brimming with stories from over 300 years of history.
  • Gastronomy: a wide array of tapas, pairings with beers and show cooking workshops at the Mercat de la Boqueria, as well as discounts at different eateries.
  • Music: the Gran Teatre del Liceu is organising the ‘Liceu Vermut’, with Raúl Fernández Refree, in Plaça Reial. There’s also a chance to dance flamenco and tango at different music venues.
  • Literature: the Ateneu Barcelonès pays homage to the legacy of Montserrat Roig with three writers from different generations: Carme Riera, Najat El Hachmi and Anna Punsoda. There’s also a poetry reading workshop in homage to the poet Alfons Borrell.

All activities will adopt the safety protocols for Covid-19 in place at present. All the times for activities can be found on the website.
