The twelfth edition of the Mercat de Mercats sees the return quality produce as the star attraction. Our markets’ retailers will be giving citizens tips on health and food from shops, where they will be able to buy fresh products from the various protected designated regions of origin.

Plaça de Catalunya will be divided into several spaces:

• Market stalls: a space for purchasing food and non-food products from Barcelona’s Municipal markets.
• Restaurants: several of the city’s restaurants, working with market and local products, will be offering tapas at 3 and 5 euros a portion.
• Grill area: a space for cooking fresh products bought from stalls for consumption in the complex itself.
• Picnic space: a space reserved for eating in.
• Family space: a space with games and activities relating to the world of markets and healthy food for kids.
• Classroom: a space for presentations, chats, cooking demonstrations, tasting sessions and workshops relating to sustainable, healthy and local food. This year will include live cooking sessions run by famous haute-cuisine chefs.
• Drinks and wine bar: selling tickets for beer, water, refreshments, wine and cava produced in Catalonia’s designated regions of origin.
• Stage: the fair will be spiced up every day with music shows and performances.

This is an initiative launched through the Barcelona Municipal Institute of Markets (IMMB), in collaboration with the Barcelona Federation of Municipal Markets (FEMM).
