Protection for local commerce in Carrer Gran de Sant AndreuThe full council approves a new usage plan for C/ Gran de Sant Andreu, regulating the opening of new restaurants and recreational establishments to preserve local commerce, protect local residents’ interests and guarantee a balance of commercial activity in the vicinity.
The measure is designed to protect neighbourhood shops from the opening of establishments which are out of keeping with the local identity and the urban project being executed in the street, as the improvements being made could attract businesses which are at odds with local interests.
Specifically, work is currently under way to calm C/ Gran de Sant Andreu, prioritising pedestrians and bicycles, as well as the construction of the new neighbourhood market, better integrated with its surroundings.
The usage regulations include properties with façades in C/ Gran de Sant Andreu, between Pg. Santa Coloma and C/ Rovira i Virgili, in C/ Mercat, in Pl. Comerç and under the arches in Pl. Mercadal.
